Learn to Spin with Walter
Want to make your own yarn? In this two-week introductory class, we will gain hands-on experience making your own yarn using the drop spindle– a time-tested method perfect for your next fiber project! This is the perfect opportunity to create your dream yarn! Come learn the practical fundamentals of drop spindle spinning: splitting wool, drafting, park and draft, and plying.
Materials Required:
A drop spindle. You may purchase one from us or use your own.
A 100g braid or bump of roving. White is preferred for class.
Bio
Driven by passion and curiosity, Walter has honed his skill in community and in his home studio. He is an emerging, local fiber artist, intrigued by all things textile and tactile. His learning method embraces vulnerability, exploration, and whimsy through artistic expression, loving the imperfections. With a focus on plant based fibers, Walter spins, dyes, weaves, and sometimes naps in open fields. He is excited to build community through the practice of art and looks forward to empowering you on your journey
